video: drone over paya
Jacques -- a repeat client, Fan of Paya, and a friend -- brought his drone with him and made this awesome aerial video of Paya Bay Resort and the surrounding coastline. I suggest watching until the end. It's a bit lengthy (8 minutes), but worth it!
It's amazing how stable these drones are. Jacques said there was a strong, steady east wind when he recorded this video.
Jacques' current service project is to assist Hanford, a Roatanian from the local community of Diamond Rock, in setting up a stand up paddle boarding (SUP) tours business (see Hanford Tours). The SUP tours of the mangrove forests to the west of Paya will be bookable right from the resort, adding yet another exciting activity that can be enjoyed while visiting Roatan's East End.

monkeys and sloths
There is a growing number of interesting experiences on Roatan. This morning, Paya Bay guests Ben and Bonnie went to Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout. They loved it!

touring punta gorda
Yesterday, I accompanied a group of Paya Bay's guests on a tour of the GarÃfuna town of Punta Gorda, Roatan. This very fun experience included watching some hot and heavy punta dancing and a seafood dinner in an over-the-sea tropical shack.

p&t series, part 2

Capitulating to our sense of adventure, Petra, Trevor and I made a stop at the 'floating bar' in Blue Rock harbor as part of the mangrove canal tour. This folkloric island bar was constructed atop the hull of a boat that floats in the middle of the harbor. It's ingenious: No flies and no wives!

One of the local señoritas poses with my friends.

Doing the Obama fist bump. Good times, good times!
p&t series, part 1

Atlanta friends Petra and Trevor were down here in Roatan this past week. We went on the mangrove canal tour in the Oak Ridge/Jonesville area on the South side of the island. It was a blast!

A nice view of one of the narrow mangrove canals.

In addition to the mangrove canals, this tour is a cultural experience as it allows visitors to see a typical island town with homes on stilts built along the water's edge.

A map of this fun tour. I give it two thumbs up and definitely recommend it!

anyone for spelunking?

The latest tour one can sign up for here on Roatan is the "Pirate Tour" to Santa Helena. Part of the tour is exploring limestone caves on this neighboring island. The idea is that the pirates may have buried their stolen treasure in these caves. Apparently NBC TV was here recently filming the experience. Sounds like an interesting adventure!
