liquid gold

I love it when our visitors from the Great North come bearing gifts! Julie and Jacob, repeat clients from Canada, brought me some yummy 100% Pure Maple Syrup. Thank you so much, guys! I'm convinced maple syrup plays a part in the reason why North Americans are often such kind, awesome, generous people!

serenity, a new space at paya

Serenity is a gorgeous new space currently under construction on the leeward, West-facing side of the property. It features gorgeous views of the island's verdant peaks, the Diamond Rock Mangrove Forest, and the placid turtle grass flats between Roatan's barrier reef and the island's shore. Once completed, it will be the perfect spot for sunset cocktails.

internet comment of the day

We had a Russian mole as National Security Advisor.

We still have:

A religion in schools person running education.
Oil guys determining environmental policy.
Bubble creators and Ponzi scheme beneficiaries running economic policy.
A guy that gutted food safety and inspection in his state is running agriculture.
An agricultural guy handling nuclear material.
A surgeon running housing.
A for profit prison advocate as the AG.
A fascist propagandist as WH strategist and Principal in the NSC.
A conservative religious fundamentalist zealot that wants to turn our secular republic into a Christian theocracy as VP.
And an ill-informed, propaganda-fed, thin-skinned egomaniac with authoritarian delusions as POTUS.

herb and vegetable garden 2.0

We are currently putting lots of energy into the resort's herb and vegetable garden using a novel approach. We're taking old, discarded tires (notorious breeding grounds for mosquitos), flipping them inside out, and turning them into large planters in which we'll grow herbs and any vegetables that can prosper in our tropical climate. The planters are elevated off the ground so the land crabs can't get into them.

“demoralizing” and “disheartening”

President Trump’s escalating attacks on the judicial branch drew denunciation Wednesday from his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, who told lawmakers that the attacks were “demoralizing” and “disheartening” to the independence of the federal courts. “I told him how abhorrent Donald Trump’s invective and insults are towards the judiciary. And he said to me that he found them ‘disheartening’ and ‘demoralizing’ – his words,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D- Conn.) said in an interview. Gorsuch “stated very emotionally and strongly his belief in his fellow judges’ integrity and the principle of judicial independence,” he added. “And I made clear to him that that belief requires him to be stronger and more explicit, more public in his views.”
