buccaneer bodega

Miguel and Francisco are currently completing the roof on the 'buccaneer bodega.' This 600 square foot facility near the water's edge will be used to store our sea kayaks and other water toys and equipment.

10 years after hurricane katrina: that was then, this is now

Excellent video (definitely worth 20 minutes of your time). New Orleans was my old stomping ground while I attended undergrad and graduate school at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Big Easy and its awesomely crazy people have a very special place in my heart. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

roatan's going green!

Roatan, Bay Islands (21/Aug/2015). Roatan has catapulted to become a leading Honduran region bidding for clean energy production. A megaproject currently underway seeks to replace 100% of the energy matrix that feeds Roatan with clean thermal energy, and has begun to be implemented this year. To make this goal a reality, US$43 million is being invested. Of that amount, $8 million is for a wind energy farm; $30 million for a natural gas-burning plant [current infrastructure it will replace uses much dirtier diesel and bunker]; and $5 million to generate energy from solid waste. Roatan Electric Company (Reco) is responsible for managing and distributing the energy that powers the island. The company has made its first breakthrough with the wind energy farm: a generating tower is already operational; three more will go online in three weeks. The wind center will supply 10% of current demand, which totals close to 12 megawatts. All 26 of the Nordtank generating towers will be operational in late November. They will have an installed capacity of one megawatt per month. The wind farm project is currently 60% complete. "One of the towers is already operational and three will be operational in the coming weeks," said Luis Rodriguez, Reco’s CFO.

chillin' at the stations

My friends Sandra and Al came for a visit yesterday. I took these pics of them enjoying the new chillout stations.

after the rain

I took a walk in the resort's herb garden yesterday after a strong rain shower...

The seagrape trees are loaded with fruit right now.

The mint bed loved the rain...

... as did the thick bed of broad-leaf cilantro.

Coco-plums.

new chillout stations

"Chillout Stations" are specials spots we've identified around the property that have either fantastic views or superb natural beauty (all locations -- so far -- have both). The Rock Island project has resulted in the creation of two new chillout stations. These stations are numbers "10" and "11."

Station #10 - A hamaca station located above a shallow, seawater-covered sand bar next to Rock Island. When the tide is high, one sees tiny, juvenile fish and crabs swimming in the crystal-clear water under the hammocks. Fantastic!

Station #11 - Located on Rock Island, this station is very private with gorgeous nature surrounding it. In addition to beautiful views, this station features very comfortable 'vertical' hammocks, along with its own access to a private sea pool nestled among the rocks...

a new mysterious place

Last week we started work on creating access to a mysterious, mystical place I had discovered on the property a few years back. This narrow, seven-foot tall crevasse between these two giant boulders is the entrance. I'll share more photos and information as this special spot continues to reveal itself.

kathy and ramon's wedding day

A morning yoga session set the tone, and got the wedding day off to a zen, mindful start. In addition to themselves, most members of the bride and groom's inner circle of friends and family participated...

The wedding guests then spent the day relaxing on Bliss Beach and enjoying everything the resort has to offer. Meanwhile, the Ananda Pavilion (the bride's favorite space at Paya, obviously) was tastefully decorated for the late afternoon wedding ceremony....

great, unlimited power in our possession

Our highest power is love, and it is one thing each of us has an unlimited amount of. How much love do you give to others in one day? Each day we have an opportunity to set out with this great, unlimited power in our possession, and pour it over every person and circumstance.

Love is appreciating, complimenting, feeling gratitude, and speaking good words to others.
,
We have so much love to give, and the more that we give, the more we receive.
