you are flying

The other day I read a little inspirational quote that went something like this: 'Some people hit an obstacle and ask for crutches; other people hit an obstacle and begin to fly.' Today -- with your decision -- you are flying, my son.

extraordinary people

Yesterday afternoon I had a beautiful experience with my parents. I invited them to join me at the site of one of Paya's new hamaca stations. The three of us celebrated Mother's Day enjoying the spectacular view and a bottle of champagne. Beautiful, sincere, important, profound, and healing feelings were expressed. The marvelous quality time we shared together was probably one of the most special and significant moments of my life.

Happy Mother's Day, Mamá! I love you so much, you incredible woman! Thank you for loving me so much.

fuel for the impossible

A mother's love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.

thinking of mom

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.

wound up as picasso

My mother said to me, "If you become a soldier, you'll be a general; if you become a monk, you'll end up as the pope."

Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.

thinking of mom

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.
- Mark Twain

I suspect the same goes for me and my mom. Despite our occasional "struggles," however, I don't think I've ever been inappropriately disrespectful to my mother (well... maybe once or four times as a teenager). Let's put it this way: she's never had to 'slap me down' for being disrespectful to her. In my current adult headspace, I would rather a thousand times 'lose the battle of the moment,' and walk quietly away from any mom-son confrontation, than be an insufferable jerk and make nasty, hurtful statements to a person for whom I hold such profound love and respect. I really, really don't think I have it in me to be jackass to this being of brilliant light who -- as she often reminds me through her heart-centered, selfless actions -- is an angel walking among humans.

Happy Mother's Day, Mamá! Thank you for your beautiful, infinite, unconditional love.

a quote sent by Mom

It translates thus: "When God created you, he shed his grace on you.  He gave you a beautiful smile, eyes full of wonder, a wonderful personality, and a noble heart. you are the most precious treasure of the universe. love, care for, and value yourself. don't let anyone or anything steal your joy ..."

This is not a one-time thing. Since I can remember, this has always been her message to me.  Every man (and woman) should be so lucky to have a mother like this. I've said it before and I'll say it again, my mother is an angel.

love

Today's my birthday. My sweet mom baked me a birthday cake. I love her clever approach to putting text in icing!
