friday, march 4 - day of peace

I just received the following from a friend. It sounds like great project!

On Friday 4th March we will be celebrating a worldwide 'Day of Peace' and we invite you to join us.

This day was inspired by someone wanting to make a difference in the world and believing that one day can make a difference. We can all make a difference and we can start with one day....

What he suggests for this day is the following :

#1 -  Say not a single unkind thing about anyone or anything. If at all possible, try not to even think a nasty thought. If we do, reflect on why it was that we thought to say it in the first place.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

#2 -  Show everyone we cross paths with some genuine human compassion. Be it with a smile or kind words, just spread some love.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

#3 -   Make not one person the exception to the rule. Not everyone deserves to have roses thrown at their feet and have a holiday in their honor, but nobody deserves to feel alone. Reach out. Talk to someone new. Care about them, and we will be cared for in return.

Thanks, Susan!  A day of peace (facebook login required)

your thoughts are a real force

You can most certainly help others through your thoughts, and they can help you. Every good thought you send to another is a living force. However, the person you are sending the thought to has to be asking for the same thing you are sending. If the person does not want it, then they are not in harmony with your thought frequency, and it will not penetrate them.

You cannot create in another's life against their will, but if it is something they want, your thoughts are a real force that helps them.

quote of the day

The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly—you usually don't use it at all. It uses you. All the things that truly matter — beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace — arise from beyond the mind...

universal awakening

A snowball at the top of a mountain has the potential to become huge, just by rolling down the mountain and gathering more snow. In a short time, this tiny snowball can become a force to be reckoned with. We humans are like this when it comes to exchanging energy and vision, and no matter how few people are involved at the beginning, there is the potential for massive change. As consciousness seekers, we are in the midst of this process, and it is amazing to see people we thought might never come around, waking up to their truth. Each time we see this, we can count ourselves blessed to be living at a time when the awareness of humanity seems to be at a tipping point, as more and more individuals open their minds and change their ways.

For some people, this revolves around an awareness of the environment, for others it is a spiritual awakening, and for many it is both. A great change in consciousness is sweeping through us all, as we recognize that things are not what they have seemed to be, that there is more to our lives than meets the eye. Many of us have the awareness and the energy at this time to break through old, outmoded ways of seeing things and to move into a new way of being in the world, and it is essential that we do so. The beauty of living at this time is that even small actions have a powerful ripple effect, and the reverberations of what we do have the power to reach and open many minds.

It is as if a scale is about to tip in favor of higher consciousness, and each one of us has the power to bring humanity closer to that point with the smallest of actions. Each time we move in the direction of our dreams and visions, we can visualize another small pebble dropping into the pond, or another gold weight on the scale, rippling and tipping our way to universal awakening.

choose to be permanently happy

Every human being on the planet wants to be happy. Anything that anyone desires is because they think their desire will make them happy. Whether it is health, money, a loving relationship, material things, accomplishments, a job, or anything at all, the desire for happiness is the bottom line of all of them. But remember that happiness is a state inside of us, and something on the outside can only bring fleeting happiness, because material things are impermanent.

Permanent happiness comes from you choosing to be permanently happy. When you choose happiness, then you attract all the happy things as well. The happy things are the icing on the cake, but the cake is happiness.

It's Full Moon at Paya Bay Resort, Roatan, Honduras.

A carpet of light on the Caribbean Sea. I read somewhere once that no computer, no matter how powerful, is capable of realistically reproducing the randomness of light reflecting on the ocean.

new water toy

Acting on a suggestion from a recent guest, Paya Bay Resort purchased a paddleboard to add to our water toy options. These wide, light, stable boards are fun and easy to use. They contribute to inner core strength and sense of balance. We plan to add another board shortly so that couples or two friends can share the experience.

According to exercise buffs, a person gets a full body workout through paddle boarding with an average male person burning up to a thousand calories per hour while women can burn up to 700 calories within the same time period. This is fifty percent more than using a treadmill.

Stand up paddling can also develop muscles on the core areas (hips, trunk and buttocks). These areas usually generate power and strength to the body.

Paddle boarding enthusiasts assured everyone that learning the sport is not as complicated as learning surfing. Plus, the sense of balance is strengthened which is usually overlooked in some gym exercises.

As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out the present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love - even the most simple action.

offer no resistance

To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace, ease, and lightness. This state is then no longer dependent upon things being in a certain way, good or bad. It seems almost paradoxical, yet when your inner dependency on form is gone, the general conditions of your life, the outer forms, tend to improve greatly. Things, people, or conditions that you thought you needed for your happiness now come to you with no struggle or effort on your part, and you are free to enjoy and appreciate them - while they last. All those things, of course, will still pass away, cycles will come and go, but with dependency gone there is no fear of loss anymore. Life flows with ease.

memories of esalen and big sur

I'm now back in Honduras after a splendid vacation at Esalen in Big Sur, California. Here are a few more photos from my extraordinary experience there.
 The main lodge at Esalen.

A view from the main deck area. Note the spa facilities on the left side of the photo.

A monument to women's liberation in one of the vegetable gardens.

Work scholars assist in the garden. A large portion of the vegetables served in Esalen's dining room are grown in on-property gardens.

A gurgling creek runs through the property. A hike along its banks was one of my favorite things to do at Esalen.
