refreshing sea breezes

Paya Bay Resort is located on a small peninsula that juts out from the northeastern side of Roatan Island. Near constant 25-MPH tropical trade winds flow across and through the property about 85% of the year, day and night. These balmy sea breezes keep ambient temperatures cool and insects at bay. This natural phenomenon results in Paya Bay being an extremely low risk place for insect-related concerns. This is particularly the case during the dry summer season. Here in Roatan, we call the easterly trade winds "Nature's A/C"!

amazing neighbors

Good fences make good neighbors, the proverb advices. We should have (and be!) some amazing neighbors because we've made some very beautiful fences! This effort has been undertaken, of course, to protect and ensure the privacy of our naturists clients. The message is clear: textile interlopers sneaking into naturist zones of the property is no longer tolerated at Paya Bay.

We are also rehabilitating the facilities on Big Beach so non-naturists visitors have a nice, obvious, immediate alternative.

slow down and relax

Sometimes finding the answer is as easy as taking a break and stepping back from the situation.

Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in our thoughts that we wind up going round in round in circles, finding it difficult to concentrate on things and, because we are so distracted, not really accomplishing much. There may be signals—mental, emotional, and physical—that tell us we need to slow down and relax. Since we are so involved in things that are external to us, however, we may easily overlook what is really going on inside of us. It is during these times that we need to step back from the things that occupy our minds and take time out to connect with our inner self, giving our minds, bodies, and spirits the time they need to reenergize and heal.

brexit: shocking news

Wow. I certainly did not expect this outcome, but I can relate to being fed up with the status quo. The Brits are a strong, resilient, and courageous people. I'm sure this will all play out just fine.

I come back to this essential truth: It's all good.

Cheerio, ol' chaps! (I guess?)

thank you, calimesa!

The group of volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses, hygienists, and support staff from Calimesa, California are back once again this year with their beautiful mission of kindness. During their very busy week, they set up a field clinic in the lower floor of the beach house, and provide hundreds of less fortunate people of eastern Roatan communities with free medical and dental care. It is such a generous and beautiful gesture on the part of these outstanding Americans. Thank you, Calimesa!

80-year-old body builder: 'age is nothing but a number'

One of the world’s oldest female body builders, Ernestine Shepherd, just gained another year in what she’s called her “long happy journey” of life. Now 80, the fitness trainer, model, competitive body builder, and new author celebrated her June 16 birthday with a Facebook post declaring her continued determination, dedication, and discipline. “I am 80 years young today and I thank God for bringing me this far. I’m still determined, I’m still dedicated and I’m still disciplined to be fit!” Shepherd wrote, inspiring more 18,000 likes of encouragement. After being named the oldest female body builder by the Guinness Book of World Records in both 2010 and 2011, Shepherd began to publicly share the story of how she came to live a life of tenacity and perseverance beginning at the age of 56. What started as a modest curiosity about working out turned into a life-changing route to happiness once her sister died suddenly from a brain aneurysm, she told HooplaHa. In an attempt to fulfill the fitness goals Shepherd had created with her late sister, she developed a following and a legacy admired by people of all ages.

article: victim's grandmother showered with love on flight to orlando

On Tuesday, the grandmother of Orlando shooting victim Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo -- who was gunned down at 20 years old -- boarded a JetBlue Airways flight to Orlando to join her family to mourn her grandson's death. But what could have been a standard, anonymous flight experience turned out to be something much more. In a Facebook post, flight attendant Kelly Davis Karas described how the grandmother's flight unfolded. "JetBlue employees made sure to be at her side every step of the way," she wrote. "Melinda stood quietly by her wheelchair while we waited until it was time to board. Kellie, the gate agent, boarded with her and helped get her settled. Melinda and I gave her a blanket, a pillow, a box of tissues and water so she could be as comfortable as possible. She was understandably distraught, but met us with kindness and gentleness. And gratitude."

Upon landing, Karas made her standard landing announcement along with the added words "JetBlue stands with Orlando." Then, at the request of several passengers and with the grandmother's permission, the plane held in a moment of silence in Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo's memory. As the passengers deplaned, every single passenger stopped to offer the grandmother his or her condolences, Karas wrote. "Some just said they were sorry, some touched her hand, some hugged her, some cried with her. But every single person stopped to speak to her, and not a single person was impatient at the slower deplaning process," she said.

senator rubio on honduras

...After spending time last week in Honduras, I am encouraged by promising signs that the country's trajectory is on the right path, with violence still too high but down significantly, and the United States having a real partner in the Honduran government and people. For the United States, our interests in Honduras are clear: to see a safe and prosperous Honduras with a thriving economy based on manufacturing, tourism and agriculture. Ensuring that the U.S. government's Alliance for Prosperity is well funded, and that those funds are properly apportioned to enhance security, incentivize programs that help reduce the levels of corruption, and provide economic opportunities that combat poverty must be a priority for Congress and the administration this year. A special focus on Central America is warranted considering our national interests in this hemisphere.

an ever-increasing peace

Your life is a learning process – you can only become wiser from learning. Sometimes you might have to attract making a painful mistake to learn something important, but after the mistake you have far greater wisdom. Wisdom cannot be bought with money – it can only be acquired through living life. With wisdom comes strength, courage, knowing, and an ever-increasing peace.
