My friends Carlos and Egberto are spending the weekend at Paya. They both live on the Honduran mainland; Carlos in Copán and Egberto in Tegucigalpa. This is their second visit to the resort. I shot some photos of the boys relaxing in the plunge pool on Bliss Beach yesterday.

The industrial age of fossil fuels has severely changed the Earth's ocean ecosystems. Our oceans absorb about one-third of human-caused carbon-dioxide, but unfortunately rising emissions have surpassed what the oceans can sustainably absorb.

As the world continues to burn fossil fuels at an increasing rate, people are pumping more and more carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which act like a blanket over the Earth, causing the planet to warm. The warming and the increased carbon dioxide in the oceans are combining to put coral reefs, some of the most biodiverse and important ecosystems on the planet, in jeopardy.

During the recent Labor Day festivities held on Bliss Beach, a special guest posed with our two youngest team members. With their sweetness, good manners, and great attitudes, Erick (l) and Omar (r) bring much good energy to Team Paya. A server in the resort's restaurant, Erick has mastered the English language in only an amazing five months! Still of school age, Omar works part time as an assistant in the food service department during the week and attends school on weekends. Monies he earns help him cover his school expenses. labor day, 2014

In celebration of worldwide Labor Day (May 1st), this afternoon we held a beach BBQ party for Paya Bay's amazing team. Staff members spent a relaxed, good energy time enjoying the new Black Iguana beach bar facility on Bliss Beach. The party included door prizes and fun games like dominoes and beach soccer.
