getting our jungle on in la ceiba

This week my friends Michelle and Joyce have been staying with us here at Paya. Michelle and I have been friends for over ten years now and we always have a great time when she comes down from Atlanta for a visit. On Wednesday we did a day trip to La Ceiba, a medium-sized city directly across from Roatan on the Honduras mainland. La Ceiba sits near the Nombre de Dios coastal mountain range and has great jungle hiking, white water rafting, and jungle canopy experiences to offer. I had already done the canopy zip lines in Costa Rica, but I think the experience is way better in La Ceiba. This was Michelle's first time and she enjoyed the heck out of it!

The day trip to La Ceiba is a great option for guests staying at Paya Bay. The ferry ride takes an hour and a half and costs about US$25 each way. We can arrange to have you picked up at the ferry dock by the the folks from the jungle experiences company and you can then either chill at the river in their rustic lodge or do one or more of the fun experiences they offer. You can stay in the city overnight for some nightlife or come back to the island the same day as the ferry departs back to Roatan at 4:30 pm.
