Located on the main street in St. Helene (an island adjacent to Roatan), Jerry's Gift Shop is a must-stop for visitors to the island. The eight foot by eight foot rustic shack is as much a curiosity as Jerry's handcrafted souvenirs. Meeting and chatting with Jerry gives a lot of insight into the island's unique culture.

Today we took a boat trip to Helene, an island adjacent to Roatan. After going through the mangrove canal, we established base at our friends Jim and Judith's place on Rocky Point. There's great snorkeling to be enjoyed right offshore from their island home.

A tour of the mangrove canals in the Oak Ridge/Jonesville area on Roatan's south shore (about 15 minutes from Paya) is a fun, interesting adventure that can be arranged through Paya Bay Resort.

Earlier this week I accompanied a group of special Paya Bay guests on a boat trip to Barbaretta and Pigeon Cay.
