Paya Bay Truly is Paradise!
So much has already been written about this magical place, but it is absolutely a most wonderful and romantic place to visit. I am trying to cover a lot of questions we had. We enjoyed 6 full days at the resort and wished we could stay for more. We will definitely do our best to be back!! The resort itself is absolutely gorgeous with three beaches (one public), every one nicer than the other; it has many walking trails around the property with numerous hidden hideaway spots, cleverly designed lounging areas, and spots to just contemplate life and the power and beauty that totally surrounds you. We even experienced a 5.1 earthquake at no extra charge! If you’re a naturist (and this very much is a naturist-friendly place), you need only pack for the arrival and departure trip and have a simple wrap / coverup for the restaurant. Bring a pair of sandals for the trails – that is all you will need. We never left the resort during our stay; just enjoyed the relaxation and great service. The beaches are cleaned daily and truly are pristine. Bugs were rarely a problem for us during our stay (AVON Oh So Soft Bug Spray is great for the “no-see-ums”!!!) and the tropical breezes kept the mosquitoes away. With a limited number of rooms and the remote location, finding places to lounge was never an issue. There are lounge chairs and sun shades (many hand-made from palms) galore here. No worries about finding a great spot on any day. We went the last week of April / first week of May and the weather was fantastic. As it was after the high season (January – March), there were only 3 couples who stayed during the week plus some daytime Cruise Ship visitors – never crowded. This is a great time of the year to visit Paya Bay for the warm, sunny, and breezy days! Yes, we enjoy naturism – but if you are not a naturist don’t let that stop you from visiting this wonderful resort. Either stay during a non-naturist week, or if you can tolerate social nudity, then visit almost any time of the year when the weather is good. You may even leave the resort a new and dedicated naturist! Once you’ve indulged, you never want to be in a wet bathing suit again. This is a family friendly resort – this is a place where couples, singles, and families can go to safely enjoy a quiet, safe, and relaxed atmosphere soaking up the sun together, clothed or not, with no fear of being hit upon or judged -- it is not a swinging party-time resort. Be prepared to meet interesting people - we enjoyed chatting with a couple who were on their 9th visit to Paya Bay – and we see why. We saw some Cruise Ship families with kids who were just having a good time; again, some clothed and some perfectly comfortable not. We are so grateful to have discovered this unique gem! appreciation and gratitude
There is a difference between feeling gratitude and appreciation for something, and feeling attachment to something. Appreciation and gratitude are states of pure love, while attachment contains fear – fear of losing or not having what you are attached to. When it comes to something you want in your life, appreciation and gratitude attracts, and attachment pushes away. If you are feeling afraid that you will not get what you want, or losing what you have, then you have attachment.- lessons from The Secret
To remove the attachment, keep shifting yourself into a state of appreciation and gratitude, until you can feel that the fear has gone.

This afternoon, in a gesture of gratitude to the policemen and policewomen who help our island community safe, Paya Bay hosted a group of young Policia Nacional personnel for their day off.

The Vitruvian Man
The Vitruvian Man (Italian: Le proporzioni del corpo umano secondo Vitruvio, which is translated to "The proportions of the human body according to Vitruvius"), or simply L'Uomo Vitruviano (Italian pronunciation: [ˈlwɔːmo vitruˈvjaːno]), is a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci around 1490. It is accompanied by notes based on the work of the architect Vitruvius. The drawing, which is in pen and ink on paper, depicts a man in two superimposed positions with his arms and legs apart and inscribed in a circle and square. The drawing and text are sometimes called the Canon of Proportions or, less often, Proportions of Man. It is kept in the Gabinetto dei disegni e stampe of the Gallerie dell'Accademia, in Venice, Italy, under reference 228. Like most works on paper, it is displayed to the public only occasionally.- Wikipedia

client feedback
Made it home to Detroit last night. I just want to say Thank You for such a relaxing vacation that I had at Paya Bay again this year. You and your staff are the best. The resort just gets better every year, and for me there is no place I would rather be. For me it is just a slice of Paradise in this unsettling world, and your motto stands true, Feel Good Be Happy.- Paya Bay repeat client Robert
Muchas gracias, amigo!

ready, set, sweat: the new trx station on bliss beach
Accomplishing a 2017 goal, we recently installed TRX equipment under a shady, ancient sea grape tree on the western side of Bliss Beach. "Born in the Navy SEALs, Suspension Training bodyweight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously." This new exercise station is part of our ongoing efforts to provide fitness and wellness options at Paya Bay. I've personally observed amazing results from people who do TRX training. The station includes a board with detailed instructions and getting started routines (there are also smartphone apps -- of course! -- one can download to assist with learning to use the exercise system). It's hard to imagine a more gorgeous space to exercise one's body and build core strength than clothing optional/mostly naturist Bliss! In these photos, Josue, a Team Paya member, gives the new straps a tryout. Ready, set, sweat!

liquid gold
I love it when our visitors from the Great North come bearing gifts! Julie and Jacob, repeat clients from Canada, brought me some yummy 100% Pure Maple Syrup. Thank you so much, guys! I'm convinced maple syrup plays a part in the reason why North Americans are often such kind, awesome, generous people!

desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

efaristó universo!
We are very fortunate. Tropical Storm Earl tracked a few crucial kilometers farther north of the Bay Islands even as it intensified into hurricane strength before making landfall in Belize. We were only affected by the outer bands of the storm. We are happy and grateful to report we experienced virtually no damage here at Paya Bay. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to our neighbors in Belize who had to absorb the brunt of this storm. I took these photos as I inspected the property early this morning (note that the shade curtains were proactively removed from the cabanas in Buccaneer Landing to prevent damage to them). *Efaristó is how one says thank you in Greek.

thank you, calimesa!
The group of volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses, hygienists, and support staff from Calimesa, California are back once again this year with their beautiful mission of kindness. During their very busy week, they set up a field clinic in the lower floor of the beach house, and provide hundreds of less fortunate people of eastern Roatan communities with free medical and dental care. It is such a generous and beautiful gesture on the part of these outstanding Americans. Thank you, Calimesa!
