bridge work completed

Work has been completed on the Buccaneer Landing bridge. It is higher above sea level and as good as new. A great spot for an afternoon swim in the lagoon.

footbridge in the jungle

A wooden footbridge spanning a deep crevasse in the rocky terrain marks a very interesting section of the Sky Trail. Paya Bay Resort, Roatan, Bay Islands of Honduras.

bridge + handrails

Voila! The completed Sky Trail bridge! Note the magnificent nature that surrounds it.

the sky trail bridge

Beautiful! Next step: the handrails. The crevasse this bridge crosses is more than 20 feet deep. The trees on either side of it are growing from the floor of the ravine.

Lucky and Foxy seem to think it's the perfect place to relax and take in the scenery.

spanning the crevasse

Today Miguel and Francisco are working on the bridge that will span a huge crevasse in the rocky ridge, adding another interesting element to the Sky Trail. I had originally considered making a rope bridge here ('cause I'm Hollywood like that), but decided in the end to use a wood bridge instead (stronger, safer, less maintenance).
