resurfacing the trails

After what has been a record-breaking rainy season this winter, many of our trails have been subject to significant erosion. Cesar, Gerson and Josue have been adding a layer of pulverized blue limestone rock to smoothen the trails and make them more enjoyable to walk on.

seagrape wildlife

The other day I was noticing the wildlife in the seagrape tree outside my apartment. These photos show white-winged doves (Zenaida asiatica) and the green iguana (Iguana iguana). Since the animals on the property are largely protected from hunters and poachers, the resort acts as a wildlife refuge. Whether you are aware of it or not, wherever you got at Paya Bay there are always cute, friendly, curious, tropical animals watching you.

winter storm in black & white

Yesterday (and for the 24 hours before it) a strong cold front slid across the Gulf of Honduras. I'm guessing its the same front that has resulted in record low temperatures in many places in North America. One thing about stormy weather: it makes for great photos. Here are some I took yesterday. I opted for the unique beauty of black and white photography.
