This afternoon I delivered to Ruthlen sixteen blank "canvasses" (24-inch marine plywood squares painted white). Ruthlen is a local artist we are engaging to create original art for our rooms. It will be exciting to see the progeny of her creativity!

it's cashew season!

This afternoon Whitney, Steven, and Emily dropped by to sell me roasted cashew seeds. The girls' mom, Ruthlen, is a recently-discovered artist and we are engaging her to create original island art for our rooms.

finding dory!

There is finally going to be a sequel to Finding Nemo, one of my all-time favorite movies! The release date is agonizingly far away, though: November 25, 2015.

On the day I took that photo, I had noticed the unusual natural contrast it presented -- the two sides separated in a straight line by the riverbank. It reminded me of the yin and yang symbol, and I began to compose the concept for the photo in my mind. Then suddenly the white swans appeared on the black background, and the black figure was on the white surface. This moment inspired me, and luckily I was able to capture it.

Mr. Ryczek definitely has some good karma going on to have witnessed this magical moment from such an ideal vantage point. For me, among other thoughts, this photo illustrates nature's response to human kindness, caring, and generosity in an elegant, splendid way. Ryczek caught it perfectly.

While working on a project, Cesar Villanueva, a member of the Paya Bay's Landscaping Team, was moved to create this spontaneous garden sculpture using an interesting rock he discovered, natural coconut fibers, charcoal, and seeds that commonly drift in the Caribbean Sea.
