behold, my heroine speaks

Today Deputy Foreign Minister of Honduras, Marta Lorena Alvarado, asked U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, to listen to the interim government of Honduras and for Washington to recognize the legitimacy of the November elections.

Clinton can talk with Zelaya because the United States has the right to make make whatever decisions it deems relevant, but I respectfully request that the current Honduran government also be heard.

We are waiting to see if there is a change of attitude in Washington. Meanwhile we are willing to suffer any sanctions that are imposed since we prefer that rather than spending twenty years under the despotism of Chávez.

The Honduran government is a transitional government handed the task of shielding an electoral process that was threatened by Zelaya; he sought to dismantle the execution of any legal processes, as well as dissolve Congress and the [Supreme] Court.

Honduras acted proactively on these events because we learned from experience of others [i.e., Cuba, Venezuela].

As always, Ms. Alvarado is strong, clear, and to the point. She's got ovaries of steel. This woman rawks!

Marta Lorena para Presidente en el 2014!
