the bromeliads of fire island

In addition to being the site of the fire pit, Fire Island has other surprises in store for daytime visitors, including a field of bromeliads that flourish on its rocky terrain. These epiphyte bromeliads get their nutrients from the air and from decaying detritus that falls into the plants' centers, where they also store ample supplies of water.

the fire island experience

fire island, fire island experience, activity, fun, spirituality, sensuality, nature, sunset, adventure,

This awesome sunset/early evening experience is worth every penny. Fire Island is a few meters offshore from the rest of Paya Bay's property. One just has to cross a shallow tidal pool to get to it. The fire pit is built in a clearing in the center of the tiny island. You are surrounded by thick, lush, tropical nature. The glow of the fire underlights the whole space, creating a warm, sensual energy. Enjoy a bottle of wine and have a romantic sunset/early evening naturist experience!

jerry's giftshop, st. helene

Located on the main street in St. Helene (an island adjacent to Roatan), Jerry's Gift Shop is a must-stop for visitors to the island. The eight foot by eight foot rustic shack is as much a curiosity as Jerry's handcrafted souvenirs. Meeting and chatting with Jerry gives a lot of insight into the island's unique culture.
