perfect day

Similar to August, September is one of the end-of-summer months when we have some of our best weather here in the Bay Islands. Today was one of those perfect days. This morning I photographed special guests Mike and Marie as they departed Bliss Beach on kayaks for the new snorkeling station 350 meters (yards) offshore.

The good energy and the beauty of the morning reminded of my wonderful Atlanta, GA friends, and this classic Lou Reed song. (May I suggest playing the tune and enjoying the above photos again? Click on the images to enlarge.)

new snorkeling station

This morning we installed an anchoring buoy at a new snorkeling station 350 yards offshore from Bliss Beach. After kayaking to the station and tying on to the buoy, guests will be able to enjoy great snorkeling in the area.

snorkeling highlights

Handled expertly by my brother Tom, Paya Bay's snorkeling options include fun boat excursions from the resort's dock to multiple snorkeling spots inside the barrier reef system.

boat trip to helene

Today we took a boat trip to Helene, an island adjacent to Roatan. After going through the mangrove canal, we established base at our friends Jim and Judith's place on Rocky Point. There's great snorkeling to be enjoyed right offshore from their island home.

the la sirena stop

After snorkeling at a great site in the coral heads right offshore, a mid-afternoon stop at La Sirena Over-the-Sea Grill in Camp Bay is always a fun experience for our guests. La Sirena's rum punches are legendary! Good thing Tom is driving!
