video: our sun in 2015
The sun is always changing and NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory is always watching. Launched on Feb. 11, 2010, SDO keeps a 24-hour eye on the entire disk of the sun, with a prime view of the graceful dance of solar material coursing through the sun's atmosphere, the corona. SDO's sixth year in orbit was no exception. This video shows that entire sixth year -- from Jan. 1, 2015, to Jan. 28, 2016, as one time-lapse sequence.- YouTube

the sea palms are flowering
This is one of my favorite times of the year at Paya Bay. During the next four to six weeks, hundreds of sea palms will pop out several beautiful blooming fronds each. The fragrance of these gorgeous wild flowers inundates the property with delicious honeysuckle aromas. This event adds a whole new sensory dimension to the natural beauty of our tropical paradise. Amazingly, the palms flower copiously not just once, but twice each year: in February-March, and then again in August-September. These fragrant blooms by the sea palms are part of the Magic of Paya Bay!

paya in the press
Vera says don’t expect Roatan to be a place like Cozumel, Cabo or the Grand Caymans. Similar to what I said in my post about Cuba, you should visit Roatan to see it before it is transformed beyond recognition by tourism. “Roatan is largely undiscovered by the international travel community, and because of that, it’s less developed than more well-known destinations. That is changing quickly, but Roatan is still relatively raw and rough around the edges when it comes to infrastructure. Really, that’s what gives the island it’s charm and character though. You’d be hard pressed to find a more authentic Caribbean experience, and it’s still cheap!”- WeTravel article
