Today a rally of support for the interim government of Roberto Micheletti in San Pedro Sula started with 25,000 people but later grew into what authorities are estimating was 60,000 people! Wow! Simply amazing! The Honduran people are speaking, and the message is loud and clear:
- WE DO NOT WANT MANUEL ZELAYA BACK AS OUR PRESIDENT (WE ONLY WANT HIM BACK -- AT AN APPROPRIATE TIME -- AS A REGULAR CITIZEN TO FACE THE CHARGES LEVELED AGAINST HIM).
- WE SUPPORT THE ACTIONS TAKEN BY OUR AUTHORITIES TO REMOVE HIM FROM OFFICE.
- WE NOW SUPPORT THE LEGAL, CONSTITUTIONAL SUCCESSION, INTERIM GOVERNMENT OF ROBERTO MICHELETTI THROUGH THE SCHEDULED GENERAL ELECTIONS IN NOVEMBER AND THE ASSUMPTION OF A NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT IN JANUARY 2010.
I've said it before, and I will say it again: if the international community tries to force Manuel Zelaya back on Honduras, the Honduran people are going to go berserk! The vast majority of people here are ecstatic he's been thrown out. We are in no mood for international community bullsh*t. While it wasn't pretty, our heroic authorities and institutions did what they had to do to get rid of a traitor who wanted to abolish our constitution and establish a Chavez-style dictatorship. Don't press us. If you are not going to support the Honduran people in our historic defense of our freedom and our way of life, stay the hell out of our business!
